This introduction/intermediate drumset book/CD package is a collaborative effort between Rod and Rick Mattingly, former editor of Modern Drummer Magazine for 9 years and current editor of Percussive Notes, the official journal of the Percussive Arts Society (PAS).

The approach is simple: keep enthusiasm high from the get-go by having the beginning drumset student sitting behind the kit and learning to play practical and useful beats and fills from Day One! Along the way they'll learn about song form, verses, choruses, intros, endings, contructing drum parts, when to crash a cymbal, when to play a fill, reading drum charts, etc. etc. And then put everything into a meaningful, musical context with 14 diverse play-along tracks (each track is played twice - first with drums and then without drums).

The Drumset Musician was developed with the teacher in mind, as presently there appears to be a void in the introduction drumset market for a relevant, practical and fun musical approach to learning to play drums.
